Home-Made Remedies

You don't have to spend a fortune on simple things like face packs and eye treatments; some are quite easy to make at home with ingredients you will have in your store cupboard and/or fridge.

Yummy Face Pack

Yogurt and Honey - Moisturising and soothing

This very simple home-made face pack is wonderfully moisturising and leaves your skin feeling very nourished.

You will need:

2 tablespoons plain yogurt

2 teaspoons runny honey

Just mix the above ingredients and spread over face and neck (avoiding delicate eye area).  Leave for 5-10 minutes.  Remove with warm water. Pat skin dry with a soft towel.

Camomile Eye Treatment

Lovely and soothing for your eyes

You will need:

2 camomile tea bags

Boiling water

Place the tea bags in a heatproof bowl.  Pour in enough boiling water to just cover.  Leave to infuse and set aside to cool.

Remove all eye make-up and, if you wear contact lenses, remove these also.

When ready to use, squeeze as much water from the tea bags as possible - they need to still be wet, but not dripping.  You can reserve the camomile water the tea bags were steeped in and apply as a refreshing and soothing facial toner.  Place tea bags on eyes, lie back and relax. Leave 5-10 minutes (you could apply the above face pack as a complete facial treatment).  Remove the tea bags from the eyes.   Your eyes will feel refreshed and "alive".

Lemon Toner

Astringent and refreshing - great for young skin

You will need:

Juice of 1 lemon

Boiling water

Place the lemon juice in a small jug and add boiling water to make up to 100ml.  Set aside and leave to cool.

Soak a cotton wool pad in the lemon water and use to tone skin after cleansing.
